 Frank
Blau - My Mentor, My Hero
A while ago I had the pleasure of attending the Nexstar
Super Meeting. While I was there, I had the
opportunity to spend some time with Frank Blau.
Frank has been an inspiration to me, and he personally
inspired me to create NSPG.
 As
most of you know, Frank has helped to change many lives
by helping them to become successful contractors.
Over the years, his message has been consistent and will
always be very simple.
Know your cost and charge more than
your cost.
During the Nexstar Super Meeting, I attended a tribute
to Frank Blau and listened first hand to contractors'
success stories from following Frank's advice. It was
truly an amazing testimonial to Frank Blau - my mentor,
my hero.. Frank gave a fine speech at the event, and
handed out a sheet that I remember he had given to me at
one of his seminars back in 1987. The sheet was
Frank's "Oath Of
Profitability."
Frank asked me to pass it along to all of you and to
have you print it, sign it, frame it, and put it up on you office
wall right in front of you so you can see it every day.
Remember as a business owner
Profits are not an option they are a responsibility.
Frank Blau started
Blau Plumbing in Milwaukee,
 Wisconsin
in 1960. After learning the keys to running his
own successful business,
Frank decided to give something back to the industry.
For many years, Frank Blau traveled North America
putting on seminars teaching business owners how to build financially
strong companies.
Frank extended his reach through his
popular articles for
Plumbing & Mechanical
magazine.
In the early 90’s, Frank Blau gathered a group of
service contractors from around the country to promote
his concept of a, “traveling college of business
knowledge.” From that original group of companies came
Contractors 2000 which is now Nexstar. It was
the first organization of its kind designed to teach
progressive business owners time tested methods for
running plumbing, heating and cooling companies.
